How Addictive is Baccarat?

June 24th, 2008

online baccarat

The game of baccarat isn’t any more addictive than other casino games. It’s appealing because you can get near-to-even odds on your wager, and you can bet large amounts. You can find baccarat at just about any stakes you can imagine, and if you have a streak of luck it can pay off in a big way. The Asian cultures have this game instilled right into their culture. Baccarat is a symbol of wealth; it’s where rich men can win small fortunes on a good night.

I don’t see anything special about the game that would make it more addictive than any other. The action plays out much like a game of blackjack or three-card poker. It doesn’t provide a different sensation or anything. It’s like any game; it becomes addictive if you win at it for a period. I would say that baccarat is just more popular, not more addictive.

Best Casinos in Vegas for Baccarat

June 17th, 2008

The Venetian has pumped up baccarat at its VIP lounge atop the casino. One might think they have transformed the setting to Asia when they get a look at the decor. The televisions are tuned to Asian stations and signs are in Chinese writing. Caesars Palace casino has also strived to create an Asian-friendly baccarat pit, including 12 baccarat tables and Pai Gow poker tables.

Many claim the Mandalay Bay casino has one of the best baccarat pits in Las Vegas. The MGM Mirage and Grand have good baccarat pits, and the Bellagio is getting in on the action, expanding its pit. Limits at casinos vary, but most have limits starting at $100 per hand and going up to as much as $50,000 per hand or more. Most strip casinos are getting in on the action, now that the boom has begun around the game in the last three years.

Jackpot Baccarat Progressive

June 10th, 2008

There are many new games that have been developed for the Asian gaming market. One variation on the favorite game of baccarat is the progressive version. This game will pay out different progressive jackpots when a certain number of the player and dealer cards are the same rank and color. The jackpot starts to pay out if three or more cards are the same; the biggest being when all six cards are the same rank and color.

The game made its debut at the G2E Asia Gaming Expo in Macau, June 4-5, 2008. If it becomes popular, as expected, we will see the game in most casinos soon. If the progressive is built, and doesn’t affect the odds of the baccarat game, it has the potential to be very popular. It will be giving the player very good playing odds when the jackpot gets big enough to count.

Get Paid to Play Baccarat

June 3rd, 2008

Baccarat is becoming more popular in North America every day. Casinos are offering the game more than ever, and there is a demand for trained baccarat dealers. If you have some type of training before trying to get a job, it will put you ahead of most other applicants. There are lots of online schools that you can learn from, and some will even help you find a job after you graduate.

Gatlin Education Serves (GES) is a good school to learn to deal the game. World Wide Gaming Academy and GES have partnered to teach you everything you need to know in order to become a Professional Baccarat Dealer. You will learn the necessary skills of shuffling, how to handle cheques, limits, and betting procedures. Once you’ve completed the course, the company will assist you in a job search, complete with a video “audition” necessary to showcase the valuable skills you’ve learned.

How to Keep Your Cool While Playing Baccarat

May 27th, 2008

Desktop Air Conditioner

A desktop air conditioner can keep you cool while playing baccarat online.

Keeping your cool while playing baccarat can be tough at times. Swings can be hard on the nerves, and when things are not going your way it’s easy to lose it. If you want to avoid this you’ll have to set limits for yourself. Decide how much you’re willing to lose and get out of the game if you hit that mark. If you don’t have the money to play the game, you should be playing something else.

Baccarat isn’t a strategy-intensive game; the dealer handles everything and you essentially just watch and decide which bets to make. If you have limits, you can relax because you know you won’t lose any more than you can afford.

Games like baccarat test our ability to endure adversity. If you can learn to control your emotions during a losing session, you’ll be better prepared to handle difficult situations you’ll encounter in life.

Can Vegas Casinos Thrive Without Baccarat?

May 20th, 2008

Baccarat has become an important part of most Vegas casinos’ revenues. With the Chinese gambling dollar playing high-stakes baccarat over all other games, the Vegas casinos are doing more and more to attract the action to the degree of buying a fleet of airplanes to fly from Vegas to Macau).

But revenues are down in Vegas this year, and many gaming experts think that the increased high-stakes baccarat action is the cause. The house edge is lower in baccarat – which is part of the reason it’s so popular – and the higher the percentage of a casino’s action that’s baccarat, the lower the profit for the house.

I don’t think that baccarat action will help or hurt a casino from thriving. But casinos certainly don’t need to offer the game to do well. There are lots of them thriving without baccarat as part of their lineup of games.

Baccarat Not as Addictive as Other Casino Games?

Baccarat Chips

Baccarat has been the game of choice for Asian gamblers ever since France first began to influence the Orient. It has certainly had its share of players that became addicted to the game, but individuals that become addicted to gambling show these tendencies regardless of the game of chance that is in front of them.

There’s nothing about the game that would make it any more addictive than blackjack or roulette. Odds within the game are close to that of blackjack, or the outside bets on a roulette table. Play is fast, but no faster than blackjack or three-card-poker.

Baccarat does have a high-roller element to it. Traditionally, players dressed for the game and it was a social event to go the baccarat pit. Perhaps this social status makes the game more important than others to some players, but it shouldn’t cause more players to become addicted to it.

New Cantor Online Casino Features Baccarat

May 6th, 2008

Cantor Casino is the first online casino created by a blue-chip company. Players have an instant advantage over those playing at other online casinos. The house edge is much lower, and players receive 15% cash back. Cantor also promises to put speedy payouts on the top of their list of customer services.

They offer a variety of games including some of their own innovations. Baccarat is offered in two options: Second Chance Baccarat and 4% Baccarat. Second Chance Baccarat allows you another bet after two cards are dealt, while 4% Baccarat only charges 4% on winning banker hands instead of the usual 5%.

There are eight versions of blackjack at Cantor, plus craps, roulette, poker and keno. You can even bet on the rise or fall of London’s UK 100 Index, the US 30 Index, and other indices, as well as FX and various commodity markets.

Vegas Casino Revenues Still Down – Baccarat Still to Blame?

April 29th, 2008

Gaming revenues for January 2008 were down 4.75% over that period last year. Initially, high-stakes baccarat was blamed for the decline but after Vegas dropped room rates for the month of February, things still continued to decline. February had a decline of 4% from that same period last year, and eyes on Wall Street have begun to watch Sin City a little closer.

“Gaming revenues have been soft this year. However, we believe the decline is not as bad as expected,” Deutsche Bank gaming analyst Bill Lerner said in a note to investors. “Still, with room rates down this quarter and gaming revenue declining, it is clear that Las Vegas is feeling the impact of a difficult economic environment.”

Gaming declined in every area of Nevada other than Carson Valley and Clark County casinos. Some experts think that the NY Giants upset victory in the Super Bowl caused most of the February loss.

Books on Baccarat

books on baccarat

I’m all for learning as much as you can about a subject — anything, really — by doing your research online. However, sometimes you have to take your research offline to dig a little deeper.

When it comes to baccarat, the best way to learn is by playing. On “Lyle Stuart on Baccarat,” here’s what one Amazon.com reviewer had to say: “Lyle Stuart tells not only how to win at Baccarat, but more importantly how not to lose your shirt. Lyle is a world champion Baccarat player and actually plays exactly how he writes with enthusiasm and passion, balanced by common sense.”

Play as much baccarat as you can for free at any number of online casinos, then when you’re ready to take it to the next level, visit the library or order one or two of these little gems online:

The Baccarat Battle Book
Secrets of Winning Baccarat
Lyle Stuart on Baccarat
Baccarat for the Clueless
